Q Anru Lee writes about subways as spaces of “cultural intimacy,” “wherein the people of Taipei reiterate or reconstruct their ambiguous and contradictory relationship with the state as well as their collective identity.” (p35). What spaces in your neighborhood do the same? How are they similar or different to the subways of Taipei? What relationship between the state and our collective identity do they give us a window into?

It was very interesting to read the spaces within the subway which provide cultural intimacy and it can be said that when it comes to spaces in my neighborhood, it would definitely be the park near my community. There are many people who visit the park and share and interact with each other on a daily basis. All of us belong to a different background and are from different cultural aspects but we share a great bond together. I feel that such spaces are helpful for us to be able to share our thoughts and beliefs and also be able to learn various different aspects regarding the cultures we share with each other.
